Welcome to my teaching website!
My hope is for it to serve as a cohesive, albeit, virtual introduction to who I am,
and express my passion for my career and what I believe to be my life purpose!
I grew up in the beautiful Dutchess County region of New York State, moved to Boston at 17 years old for college and began a life of exploration, adventure and a pursuit of purpose that landed me in the most rewarding career I can think of outside of being a mother to my two sons:
I am a Teacher.
There is so much depth to that seven letter word. The most influential people in my life I can name as my teachers, some actually are educators, others are those who have given me life lessons - it's those moments - the ones that make ( or made) me pause, that directed me to this career path. The LESSONS.
That light bulb, igniting passion and power in fueling an idea, exploring a thought... taking a dream for a walk.
That is why I became a teacher.
Coming from a family of artisans, I experienced life on the road exposed to a diverse range of communities, cultures, skills and professions. The more people I met, the more knowledge I gained with this access to a sense of community outside of my immediate one. This upbringing helped to develop my personality more than I was aware of at such a young age. Later, when I went on to study and earn my Bachelor’s degree in Art Therapy, the experience, at the very least, taught me the value of ones ability for self-expression, in all its forms. I consider this therapeutic background to be of great value as a teacher, professional, and individual. I know this more now as a mother, as I strive to implement life lessons of empathy, inclusion and respect for others individuality in my children’s lives and in my own daily reminders. It’s a natural and permanent part of my life!
As a graduate from the dynamic MAT program at Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, being an educator enables me to live effectively within the means of my professional goals: to be a part of community that implements a student-centered curriculum that is equitable, inclusive, culturally responsive and challenging, as well as one that focuses on the integrity of creating a cohesive relationship with parents and community members.
This is global work! I am honored to be a part of it.
I hope you enjoy visiting my website, its been a pleasure virtually introducing myself to you!
