My Teaching Philosophy:
All Children are Capable.
It's true; and I am on a path focused to help each child that enters my classroom
not only see their full potential, but activate it.
I want them to truly believe in their success as I do.
I have always been passionate about working with children, but most especially in the fields of Early Education and Special Education. My interest in pursing this career path came from reflecting on how important my educators had been in my life, helping me to realize the infinite opportunities and challenges we have to positively influence student’s growth and self discovery. Through incorporating personal interests, cultural backgrounds, and introducing a kaleidoscope of opportunities that allow for academic exploration, success and self-development, I intend my focus of maintaining a classroom that fosters critical thinking about the world we live in to help guide children to become better students, community members, and citizens in our society.
In meeting the needs of all my students, whether they exhibit difficulty accessing a part of the curriculum, have a diagnosed disability, or face a social-emotional challenge, collaborating with other teachers, professionals and caregivers is an essential component to their success. I am not a specialist in every type of situation that may arise. Collaborating with other professionals and teachers is utterly important to my practice as it will help with making my students goals achievable, and caregivers know their children in ways we cannot always identify - when planning for academic success and success beyond the curriculum, cultivating a strong team and relationship is the best source for establishing a students goals.
I love the challenge of teaching students who struggle with concepts that may come easy to others and know this is a profession that will constantly provide me with the challenges I love. No two people are the same; therefore they do not learn or grasp concepts in the same way. Providing reassurance of safety, a respectful and empathetic classroom atmosphere must be established to capture students’ attention and preserve their well-being. It is my responsibility to face these situations head on and provide the tools that will make my students successful in their lives.
